Matches must be played on the dates indicated in the 2026–28 National Team Match Calendar (see Annex A). Changes to these dates are not allowed without the prior agreement of the UEFA administration.
UEFA compiles the match schedule for the final tournament, which will be staged from 9 June to 9 July 2028. As a rule, each team will have at least two rest days between matches.
Following the qualifying group stage draw, the UEFA administration compiles the fixture list including the match dates and kick-off times for all groups according to the following general principles:

* Matches may exceptionally be scheduled on Wednesday, 29 September 2027 as part of the international match window in September-October 2027.

At least two rest days are provided between each team's matches (i.e. a team that plays on Thursday cannot play again until Sunday at the earliest).

As much consideration as possible is given to ensuring a fair distribution of weekday and weekend matches and a regular sequence of home and away matches for each team.

Teams in the same group play on the same day.
Additional principles and conditions may be applied, subject to approval by the UEFA Executive Committee.
Deviations from these general principles and conditions are possible and decided by the UEFA administration.
