57.01

As a rule, a player or team official sent off by the referee is automatically suspended for the next match in the competition. In the event of a serious offence, the UEFA disciplinary bodies are entitled to augment this punishment, including by extending it to other competitions.

57.02

In case of repeated yellow cards:

  1. in the qualifying competition, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after the second and fourth yellow card;

  2. in the final tournament, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after the second yellow card.

57.03

Yellow cards that have not resulted in a suspension and pending yellow-card suspensions expire on completion of round 3 and are not carried forward to the final tournament.

57.04

In the final tournament, yellow cards that have not resulted in a suspension expire on completion of the group stage. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals or to any FIFA U-20 World Cup play-off matches.

57.05

All yellow cards and pending yellow-card suspensions from the final tournament expire on completion of the competition.
