Each team plays each of the other teams in the group once, with three points awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat.
The final tournament group stage is played according to the schedule below. The last two matches in each group must both kick off at the same time. The first-named team is considered to be the home team.

On completion of the final tournament group stage, final group standings are compiled based on the number of points obtained by each team in the group. The four group winners and the four group runners-up qualify for the quarter-finals.
