Players must be allocated numbers between 1 and 23. If the number 1 is used, it must be worn by a goalkeeper.
For the final match of the UEFA Nations League finals and for the UEFA Women's EURO 2025, players must be allocated fixed numbers. These numbers must be displayed at chest height on the front of the shirts and the players’ names must be added to the numbers on the back.
In case an outfield player must take the position of goalkeeper during a match, each team must have an extra set of goalkeeper shirts without names or numbers in the same two colours as the regular goalkeeper shirts.
