To compare the rankings between the preliminary round groups and to determine the best runners-up which qualify for path B of the main round, only the matches against the teams in first and third place in each group are taken into account if the round comprises groups of three and four teams. If the round consists exclusively of groups of four teams, matches against all other teams are taken into account. In both cases, the following criteria are applied in the order given:

Higher number of points;

Superior goal difference;

Higher number of goals scored;

Lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received by players and team officials (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);

Higher club coefficient (see Annex B).
