EPR is an environmental regulation requiring producers/importers to manage waste and pay recycling fees.
It applies to packaging, single-use plastics, electronics, batteries, tyres, vehicles, textiles, wood, cooking oil, lamps, advertising paper, office paper, etc.
Key Obligations:
Register with MOHU and environmental authority.
Appoint a Hungarian representative if non-resident.
Submit quarterly weight-based declarations and pay fees.
As a general rule, the obliged entities must pay an EPR fee to finance the management of waste from ’circular economy products‘ they put on the market or use for their own purposes.
Partners should contact a local advisor to better understand any obligations they may face in this area.
