Passport holders of visa-free countries (UK, Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand and the United States of America) or people who have been granted with a visa can also work at EURO 2024 in Germany on the condition that they do not work for more than 90 days (within a period of 12 months) without having to request a work permit.
For any stay of more than 90 days within any 180-day period, nationals of countries other than EU member states, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland must apply for a national work visa/residence permit, which can be awarded together with a work permit. In most cases, applications must be made before arriving in the country.
Even though nationals of UK, Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand and the United States of America may travel to Germany without a visa and obtain residence permits from the competent authority in Germany on arrival, it is recommended to apply for a national work visa/residence permit before the travel.
Together with the application form, applicants must present documentation, depending on the purpose of the trip, so that the diplomatic mission can ascertain that applicants meet the requirements for granting a visa for work. This includes in particular that applicants possess a valid travel document which is valid for at least another three months after their planned departure, has at least two empty pages and was issued within the last ten years, that they have sufficient financial resources at their disposal for the trip and their stay and that they do not pose any risk to public security and order.
