Applicants for a Norwegian Schengen visa must submit the following documents, in accordance with the Schengen Visa Code and Norwegian UDI requirements:

  • A completed and signed application form, submitted electronically via the UDI Application Portal. A separate application is required for each applicant, including minors; applications for children under 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  • UDI Application Portal can be found on the following link:

  • A valid passport, containing at least two blank pages, issued within the past ten years, and valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area.

  • One recent ICAO‑compliant photograph.

  • Proof of payment of the visa fee, payable online through the UDI Application Portal.

  • Proof of travel insurance covering medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and repatriation (including in case of death), with a minimum coverage of €30,000, valid throughout the entire Schengen Area and for the full duration of the stay.

  • Documents confirming the purpose of travel, such as invitations, hotel reservations, itinerary, proof of family ties or business meetings.

  • Evidence of sufficient means of subsistence, demonstrating the ability to cover accommodation, travel and living expenses during the stay and for return travel.

  • Proof of confirmed accommodation for the duration of the stay in Norway or other Schengen countries.

  • Information demonstrating the intention to leave the Schengen Area before expiry of the visa — such as return tickets, employment contracts, proof of enrolment, or family ties in the applicant’s country of residence.

  • Biometric data (fingerprints), collected at the time of submission in countries where the EU Visa Information System (VIS) is operational (with exemptions for specific categories, including children under 12, certain officials, and individuals whose fingerprints were collected in the past 59 months).

  • Service fee payment, if the applicant must submit the application through a third‑party provider (e.g. VFS Global).

As a general rule, Schengen visa applications for Norway are processed within:

  • 15 calendar days from the date of submission.

The processing period may be extended up to:

  • 45 days if further examination of the application is required,

  • if additional documentation is requested, or

  • if Norway needs to consult other Schengen States.
