Companies established outside Norway may temporarily post workers to Norway in the context of a transnational provision of services. When doing so, they must comply with Norwegian rules on pay and working conditions, as required by the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven) and legislation implementing Directive 96/71/EC and Directive 2014/67/EU.
A worker is considered posted to Norway when they are temporarily sent by an employer established in another country to perform work in Norway:
for a company belonging to the same corporate group,
for a client company under a contract for services,
or through a temporary work agency.
Posted work in Norway is intended to be temporary, and Norwegian authorities may request documentation confirming the limited duration of the assignment.
