Compulsory notification

Under Norwegian law, companies posting workers to Norway must submit a mandatory notification to the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (Arbeidstilsynet) before the work begins, regardless of the duration of the posting.

Notification can be made through the official service portal accessible on the following link :

https://www.arbeidstilsynet.no/en/forms/reporting-of-posting/

The notification must include:

  • Identification of the company posting the worker

  • Registered address and VAT/tax number of the company

  • Personal and professional details of the posted workers

  • Identification of the companies and worksites in Norway

  • Expected starting date and duration of the posting

  • Specification of the activity performed and the contractual basis for the posting

  • Identification of a contact person in Norway responsible for communication with authorities

The foreign employer remains fully responsible for compliance with Norwegian regulations, but the representative ensures operational communication on Norwegian territory.

If the company changes its representative, this change must be reported immediately to the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority using the official notification channel.
